Infrared sauna or a classic sauna? Opinions differ on this question. Anyone who wants to buy a home sauna will have to deal with this question at some point. An infrared sauna has advantages but also disadvantages compared to a classic sauna. It is a question of personal taste and needs. The infrared sauna is often perceived as very pleasant. The temperatures in such a cabin are lower than in a conventional sauna. But if you find the heat of the sauna soothing and pleasant, an infrared sauna will not be an alternative.

Saunas in an infrared sauna are healthy for the body and mind

Staying in an infrared sauna has several advantages. It is perceived as more pleasant and is better tolerated by the body. The stays have a pleasant effect on muscles and joints, especially the infrared saunas with ceramic radiators. But personal well-being also increases. Even efforts to lose weight are supported by regular sauna sessions in an infrared sauna. Of course, it also strengthens the immune system and has a preventive effect against colds. In some infrared saunas you can also turn on light therapy and use it for aromatherapy. This of course ensures additional relaxation for even greater well-being.

Daily sauna sessions are only possible in an infrared sauna

While it is not recommended to go to the sauna every day in a classic sauna, this is easily possible with an infrared sauna. The individual sauna sessions are not as strenuous and stressful for the body. With a conventional sauna, it is advisable to use it once a week. If you visit several times a week, individual sauna sessions should be shortened. This is completely different with an infrared sauna. You can go in there every day and relax and warm up. However, individual sessions in the infrared sauna should not exceed 30 minutes. A rest break is also necessary after such a sauna session. At least 5 minutes should be allowed for. Of course it can be longer, just as you want.

The infrared sauna with the full spectrum radiator

This spotlight covers the entire infrared spectrum. This means you can enjoy A, B and C infrared heaters. This warms your skin pleasantly. The rays are not harmful to your health. However, this only applies if you stick to the maximum times. Unfortunately, if you stay in an infrared sauna for too long, your health can be damaged. But if you stick to the times, the infrared rays will only develop their entire beneficial effect on the body and mind. A model with a full-spectrum radiator is more expensive than those with other radiators, but is the only type of radiator that noticeably warms the skin.

The location of the infrared sauna

Whether you want to place the infrared sauna outside in the garden or inside the house is up to you. But you have to decide this before you buy an infrared sauna. Not all indoor models can be easily placed on the terrace or in the garden. If you want an infrared sauna for more than two people, it is advisable to place it outdoors, as there is often a lack of space indoors. But if you have the space, you can also place the infrared sauna in your own four walls.
If you buy an outdoor sauna that is made of wood, make sure that the wood has been treated. If the wood is still untreated, you must do this before using the sauna outside. Only if the outer shell is treated appropriately is it protected from the effects of the weather.

Different models for different needs

Which infrared sauna is right for you depends on your personal preferences. How do you want to use the infrared sauna? An important question is how many people should it accommodate. There are small models in which only you can sit alone. Of course, these require very little space. But the spotlights used are also different. We briefly introduce the different heaters used in infrared saunas and name the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of heaters.

The infrared sauna with ceramic radiator

A ceramic heater mainly emits infrared rays B and C. The individual spotlights heat up very quickly. Such an infrared sauna is ideal if you want to use it to treat muscles and joints. A disadvantage is that the spotlights themselves do not get hot, but if you get too close to them and lean on the spotlights, this will still be uncomfortable.

The infrared sauna with carbon heater

If you want to use your infrared sauna with children, a model with carbon heaters is the best solution. These only emit type C infrared rays. This is perceived as very pleasant. Unfortunately, it takes about 40 minutes for the cabin to heat up. This means that a spontaneous sauna session is out of the question in an infrared sauna with these heaters. The big advantage, however, is that you can easily lean on the spotlights. This is not possible with ceramic and full-spectrum emitters.

Different models of infrared saunas

There are different models of infrared saunas. The smaller models do not offer the opportunity to lie down while using the sauna, but are only suitable for sitting. The models that are suitable for lying down, for example on a lounger, offer more options, but are also correspondingly more expensive. If you are not sure whether you want a sauna at all, or only have little space, you can also buy a mobile sauna. You can set these up easily and quickly supply them again.

Infrared sauna – various offers for your needs

Before you decide on an infrared sauna, think about what exactly you are looking for and what you expect from your infrared sauna. The more expensive models have an ionizer. This cleans the air in the sauna cabin and frees it from unpleasant rumors and pollutants. Get inspired in our online shop. Take a look around our sauna shop online and get inspired.
